A few weeks ago we had one of the most fun and delicious experiences filming, one that reminded me of how much I love my job. For many months now, the team at La Cooquette has been wanting to produce a video that explores one of Tijuana’s most precious attractions: its amazing tacos. And thanks to a partnership with Keds, we got our chance!
We thought it’d be a good idea to showcase our favorite taco joints in Tijuana, which meant going from one place to another, talking to the managers and patrons of each place and rating the top taco options. At La Cooquette, we love this type of immersive shoot that has us all exploring the offerings of a city. Besides, there’s nothing like a good long walk to really get that appetite going!
Out of the whole production team, I did the most walking –mainly because of doing repeated takes of me wandering through the city (yes, it is a bit awkward to walk the exact same stretch several times in front of passers-by, but the filmmaking process is as awkward as it is fun!)
In the past, this filming dynamic easily turned into a nuisance for me, because for long I’ve favored simple flats as my go-to footwear, and those are far from ideal for long walks. This is hardly a problem exclusive to demanding filming schedules, and I’m sure you too have experienced it: you’re out and about, having fun with your friends or just rushing from one place to another, running errands, and slowly but surely your feet start to complain and you start cursing your shoe choice. Sure enough, by the end of the day, you’ll end with blisters.
But you know what? This time around, my feet didn’t bother me one bit! I was fortunate to have Keds send me a couple of pairs of shoes from their new Fall collection, and from the get-go, I can tell you that I will be hard-pressed to go back to wearing those flimsy flats I used to sport all the time. The Double Decker Keds I wore were ideal to provide comfort during our production and also proved perfect to combine with my easy-going, colorful style. I am no shoe expert, so I won’t get all technical with you, but what I can tell you is that I love how padded and cozy they feel around my feet.
Keds is a company with a long, rich history of making shoes for women, and those many decades of experience are palpable when you feel their product carrying your weight the entire day. Additionally, Keds makes shoes specifically with women’s needs in mind, offering not only different sizes, but also a large variety of widths for every unique pair of ladies’ feet out there.
I’ve also been using the Keds sneakers extensively during a family trip around the Four Corners region, which included hiking several short trails in sites such as the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, and Bryce Canyon. And, believe me when I tell you, wearing these shoes has made walking these places a breeze!
I always say that the best way to travel and get to know a city is to get lost in it and simply wander the streets aimlessly, meandering and mingling with your destination’s many offerings. This philosophy’s main objector is, well, tiredness!
I’m happy to say that, with Keds, it is way easier to keep exploring your destination for hours on end. Also, if you’re going to eat tacos all day as I did, you might as well include a long walk in the itinerary between taquerías to burn off some calories and feel a little less guilty! And, oh! In case you were wondering, here’s the taco video we produced (turn on subtitles!). Don’t get too hungry!!
Last but not least, if you’d like to purchase the Keds styles I wore (Leopard or Gray) or any of their other styles, you can find great offers for them at ShoeCarnival.com.
